What is the purpose of the rocks, to help hold moisture??
They look awesome!

Those are expanded clay pellets which help with the drainage. They are light and do hold moisture. Thank you for your words and for checking out the pictures.

That is some sort of cactus that I purchased at a local nursery. It has done well in the vivarium, as you can see from the growth streching to the right. Sorry I don't know exactly what cacti it is. Let's find out...
