Thank you, Gypsy!
My cats leave my geckos alone for the most part. I was paranoid at first, but I finally decided that keeping them away (especially Izzi--he's a loon!) would just make them that much more interested and prone to be extra bad if the opportunity arose (i.e. when I'm at work/asleep). I leave the geckos' tanks covered (I leave room over the screen lid so they can still get some air circulation in there!) with sheets/pj bottoms/skirts/light kitchen towels when I am away. Out of the five cats I own, two of them (Sissy and Izzi) are interested in the geckos when I feed them their crickets. At that time, these two cats will sometimes bat at the crickets in the two lowest tanks I have set up, which are Sephiroth's and Fry's, but it doesn't phase them at all. I think the geckos think the kitty paws are crickets and want to eat them! Plus, like Kazska said, I think the geckos find the cats interesting to see. I've seen both Fry and Sephi give the kitties extremely inquisitive looks! ;-)
Of course, it does depend on the temperaments of both cat and gecko to have peaceful encounters. I'm not saying to turn your cat loose to see your gecko--you know your animals best, and if you feel keeping them apart is safest, then keep doing it!
