urgent help needed!!!

Cindy, Ethan, Nate, ANYONE THAT CAN HELP!!!!!

My loki is acting very strange today... she keeps her head tilted to one side....and instead of jumping on my hand and cuddling into my hair... she just sqiggles around in my hand biting nipping and still laying her head right side to the ground... she looks miserable and I cant stop crying.. I dont know what to do for her - she has nothing high to climb on she could not have fallen, her and her cage mates all get along, and there are no signs of any type of bite or trauma to that side of her head - It really looks like she slept on it wrong or something.. but it's been like that all day long... I have her secluded, in a nice warm hide but she really looks miserable... PLEASE OFFER ADVICE!!!!

Hey there,

First off all; I am really sorry to hear this!! I'll try and approach it in a professional way, since I'm also a vet's assistent.
When the head is held to one side, it could be a symthom off different trauma (head injury) or disease (bacterial or viral infections). the inner ear contains sensory organs for hearing and balance. If this is somehow damaged (by trauma or disease), the head normally shifts to one side. Right now, I am not really sure if there's any medication to help restore the balance. I will try to find that out later!! But if it's caused by trauma, it will probably just needs time to adjust/heal. If it's caused by a disease, than she really needs medication (probably antibiotics) to fight off the disease.
That she's trying to bite, could suggest that she's in pain. So your doing a good job by leaving here in here own enclosure with ambient temperature!
I'm sorry if I'm not much off a help....hope she'll recovers from this!!!!

Julia, sounds like it's time for a trip to the local herp vet. Head tilts are not a good sign. Do, in the mean time, keep her seperate from the others.

I'm sorry!! I hope she's ok. Don't handle her if at all possible, see if she'll take food. I'd say at least call a vet. I've never had this happen to me, so I'm not much help, but your gecko is in my thoughts.
