Here's a story.... about two love geckos...

Once upon a time, there was a Male High Yellow Lavender Phase Leopard Gecko (probably a Mack) He was born in November of 2007. His name is Baby Mac.....
He met a wonderful human named "lifeshighways" who just loved him to death, she took him to her home and built him a FABULOUS castle.. she put in sand and a play area with all kinds of climby things, she put in a dining room with tile floor and a mealie dish and a nice secluted little pottie with green trees to provide him with privacy... then she built him these three exceptional lil hidaway spots for sleeping, shedd'n and "gett'n it on"...

well after 5 months she brought him in SIX (6) new cage mates ..aka girlies....(btw, his castle is 75 gallons and long) she put in a few more nice lil houses so the girlies would have some "private places" too... after several months of playing together Baby Mac's lil eyes fell upon the sweetest young Loki... she was born in January and she's a Hypo (3 dots) Tangerine, Carrot Tail. She gets her name because she is w/out a doubt MISCHEIVIOUS....(and naughty) She prances around in front of Mac with her tail up high and wiggling it til he just cant stand it anymore... he snuggles up with her nipping on her neck all romantic like and well... "if the hide is a rock'n dont come a knock'n" is all I will say.... Loki was only 8 mths old she was barely 42 grams and the human didnt think that she and Mac would even try to "do the deed" until after they were both "of age" but like most curious young teens they snuck behind the human's back and well... if you're a parent to a teenager - You know what happened.. Ms Loki looks up at her human, baby mac too... they admit they've made a wee mistake and let their hormones overtake them... Ms Loki has a very thick white tummy.. she's moving slower and her lil eyes are squinting as if she's uncomfy... August 31st rolls around and the human comes in to find Ms Loki and her Baby Mac laying on top of their first two lil eggs... since the human was not expecting the "love match" to happen so early she had not even purchased a "hospital plan" (aka incubator) she had no insurance and couldnt afford to just run out and pick one up either... so the first two eggs did not make it... *la sad*... the human stopped in to check on her love birds one night and caught them RIGHT IN THE ACT.. tsk tsk tsk she said... pointing her fingers at the baby girl and speaking sternly to her naughty teenage Boy .. "Mac, you know she's too young, stop that business", the human says. Low and behold September 23rd rolls around and Ms Loki has the fat belly, she's shed 4 days prior and she's doing the "lay on the warm rock" thing again... the human watches very closely, by this time the insurance plan is in full bloom and prepared.... at precisely 6:32 pm the little white egg "PLOP" slips from between her tiny lil legs and she looks up at her human who is making strange sounds that sound something like "hee heee whooo hee heee whooo" and she's saying "good girl Loki" which blows Ms Loki's mind since she has no clue what the hell her human is babbling about, all she knows is her whoo ha hurts like hell and she really never wants this to happen again... the human takes the egg and Loki looks around for it for days.. sort of depressed... but the butter worms sure made Loki perk up... then the mealies... then the crickets... Loki was back to herself in 4 days.. tail already thick again... and what does the human find when she comes in to say goodnight... Loki's tail in the air again.. Mac following her around with his lil tail flitting about and he looks as if he's about to take lift off with a nip and a pounce the human witness the whole act... she's wondering just how many times this wee one will go back for the same stuff *LOL* - REMEMBER THERE ARE 5 OTHER VERY ABLE FEMALES in here - but Mac sees none of them.. he is in love with His Loki girl.... so the human finds ms Loki has shed... she's doing the flat tummy on the floor of the cage thing.. she's pounded down all the mealies and what happens first thing this morning... the human finds two more eggs in the hide with Baby Mac and Loki... He must have held her hand while she laid them in the night... what a supportive, good boy he is... The human has since removed Ms Loki AND the eggs... now 3 eggs warm in the "hospital" Loki has a small condo to herself so she can rest until Spring... and Baby Mac paces back and forth looking for his sweetheart, not paying the other 5 hotties any attention at all.... ......to be continued....

I hope Loki doesn't die prematurely from laying eggs too early in her life.

Teenage pregnancy = Many complications later in life.

Awww what a beautiful story :) really brightened my day up at work!

.... Lemonjello kinda depressed me a bit though :( I hope Loki has a long and fulfilling life! :D

Good luck with the eggs! Can't wait to see the babies!

Thank you, I'm glad it brightened your day.... my babies have such personalities, I cant help but write little stories about them, maybe some child will learn something from them... speaking of children....

My mother always told me if you cant say something nice dont say anything at all and well... I dont have much nice to say about lemonjello so I'll end it with that....

Loki will live to be a ripe old age. I have 30 plus geckos and not a single one of them want need or desire for anything. I had an exotics vet come to my house over the weekend, who took photos of our setup and praised us on how well we've done to bring in the rescues re-habilatate them and provide the best possible homes. I asked him about Loki giving birth too early in life and he said that she was PERFECTLY HEALTHY... her tail is nearly as fat as her body, she's moving about just fine and she has shown no signs of being anything but healthy... Taking her out of Mac's mansion was not even necessary as she's perfectly fine.....

Our local Serpentarium has made an appointment (thanks to the Vet) to come out this Thursday and look at our set up....They want to do a story on our "Reptile Rescue" in their newsletter. Our local paper is coming out tomorrow night to do a spread on us, and the Wildlife Association has sent me a letter thanking me for what we're doing....I'm not worried about some "forum frowning - 3 gecko owning - crap on a sunny day" person.. I know I have my shit right!

There is a learning curve for every successful business, be it money making or non-profit. I have made MANY mistake in this first year, and I am adult and mature enough to admit that I will make MANY MORE.. I am not perfect, I do not know it all NOR DO I COME ON THIS FORUM (or any other forum) AND TOSS OUT NASTY COMMENTS TO TRY AND PROVE I KNOW MORE THAN I DO! I dont need validation to SUCCESSFULLY run my business, my validation comes from having happy healthy reptiles not some "post on some forum"... I know I will lose geckos I will lose snakes and I will save FAR FAR MANY MORE than I lose....

Everyone has haters... I'm proud of mine, if someone is jealous enough of me to hate on me then I must be doing something right *wink wink*

as for the eggs, I'm about 90% they are infertile since both Loki and Mac are less than 1 year of age... and both are just around the "successful" weight.. but I've got my incubators (3 now) set up with the proper temperatures and humidity should they actually hatch...or some of my older leos should happen to give me something "hatchable"

Anyway -thanks for the positive post - and thanks for realizing it was a STORY!!!!:coverlaugh:

I know it was a story, but I thought you were being truthful about the teen pregnancy. And, I am sure your setups are great, but teen pregnancy can damage their systems (not exactly sure how- Need to read up on it some more). I was not meaning to insult you or make you sad or anything like that, rather just telling you what could happen from teen pregnacies, just for the benefit of leopard geckos everywhere. And I know I do not have as much experience as you(Yes, I only have 3 leopard geckos! :) ) and again, I wasn't trying to say that you took bad care of them or you were a bad owner. And I am not jealous of you, LOL. Not at all. I wasn't trying to be negative, but I was just trying to inform you of something you may not have known. I was not trying to put out a nasty comment, and I am sorry you perceived it as one. :)

I am sorry if you thought I was being offensive and "hating", and I should have explained that more in my first post.

Hehe! I love your story!! Thats so adorable! :D

Thanks dear.... since we've been rescuing reptiles we've "talked" for them and made up all kinds of stories about what we "think" they might be saying.. We have a Veiled Cham that is pissed off at the world.. If we are not in the room w/him he will be neon green with pretty blue lines on him... beautiful... simply gorgeous.. but the moment that door opens and he realizes we're in the room BROWN... TAN... looks like a chamaflauge suit for the dessert *LOL* tickles us sometimes because he's so cantankerous. We call him Kantakerous Kyle.... and we make up stories of him with a cane in an old old man's voice shaking his cane at the kids "playing in his grass"... "get off my grass you heathens, or I'll call your mothers"....

he had an anole in the cage with him when we rescued him, since he was our first cham and we didnt know much about him for the first 2 weeks we let him stay in there.. the anole - we called Akhan disappeared and Kyle didnt eat for a week.. hmmm wonder what happened to him? Yep you guessed it.. so we wrote up a story about it explaining how they were from different climates and had been accidentially placed together and how they tried to get along but couldnt and how one day Ahkan was stalked and swallowed and is now a puddle of poop on the floor... sad.. but a fact.. if somehow an anole ended up in Madagascar he would be eaten by something.. educational - sad.. but indeed educational for kids.. so we keep these stories for our presentations.. we print them up with pictures and pass them out for the kids to read up on their ways of life... so far they've been a success HAHAHA (and ofcourse I leave out the curse words and the refrences to my leos being slutty HAHAHA that's just for my online forum friends)

Stay tuned they'll be other stories that's for sure!

Apology Accepted.

You are correct there is ALOT I dont know, and had it been worded differently perhaps there wouldnt have been such energy wasted in the misunderstanding. A lesson learned for both of us i guess...

Have a good day

hehe - what's scary is that we have a lesbian leo and when Jeff (my bf) does the lesbian leo girlie voice.. now that's scary *LOL* ( I say she's lesbian because she runs from mac and she snuggles with the girls.. if mac enters the hide she leaves).. she's not into the boys!
