C. variegatus and the law in AZ

Am I understanding this right - it is legal to collect or posess them (within a set limit), but not to sell them?

Yes. I believe that the limit is 20 with the purchase of a hunting license.

It depends on the state, I don't know about the other states but Utah has a law in place that won't allow any possession of Coleonyx variegatus utahensis without a Certificate of Registration. But I've also witnessed them be not so caring about the subspecies and any Coleonyx variegatus is subject to the law, according to them.
