Leopard Gecko breeding concerns

I have 0.2.0 Leopard Geckos (High Contrast Carrot Tail and Rainwater Albino) that I would like to breed. I am planning on getting 1.0.0 Red Stripe, because I would like to produce Raining Red Stripes with my RW and the Red Stripe. But I have a few problems with breeding:

1. What should I house they babies in? Size? Type of container? Rack? Furnishings? Heat? I won't have a TON of babies, but I will have some.

2. At what age should I sell them at? And what is an average price of a Raining Red Stripe (I know it varies depending on quality, but what is an average)?

3. How hard is it to ship live reptiles? Could someone tell me about the procedures?

Thanks in advance!

With leopard gecko babies you can put those all together in the one tank. tanks can be used along with like tupaware boxes and stuff, heating your looking at a heat mat for them. you have to keep them for two weeks before passing them on. and dont pass them on if they dont look healthy also dont bother breeding them if you cant keep them and no one will take them. You can use a lightbulb boxes for little hides, pop bottle lids, oasis bottle lids are best for putting water and calcium in there. its great to use greese proof paper aswell which can be easily removed. i have no clue about shippping them mate other wise i would share my further knowledge lol :coverlaugh:

In my opinion, it's best to house babies singly or in pairs so they are not overcrowded, don't get bullied and so you can track their progress. Many people house babies (and adults) in racks, which is essentially a shelf unit with plastic tubs that fit snugly (airholes in the tubs) and heat that's set into the shelf unit. I keep my babies in front-opening 20 gallon long tanks that I divide into 3 sections, so I can keep 3-6 babies in each tank.

Ideally, it's best to wait until babies are about 15 grams before selling them, which is more like 6 weeks than 2 weeks. At 2 weeks, the most advanced have been eating solid food for scarcely more than a week and many of my geckos (I hatched 39 this season) weren't well started on eating independently at 2 weeks.

You have a lot of good questions and a full explanation is beyond the scope of a single post. I highly recommend that you check out this forum and other forums (there are forums that are specific to leopard geckos and breeding) and read everything you can. Many of you questions, including details about how to ship with pictures, are available on-line.

i have never bred leos but i plan to in the near future and i agree with acpart, i would keep them separate to monitor their eating habits and general health and keep them less stressed.

Hey One thing i know it doesnt matter but oz is not a carrot tail not enough orange.

Now i am housing my babies in 28qt tubs that has a little bit bigger floor space than a ten gallon. I am going to take a plastic shelf put some tile or wood shelving on the plastic shelves and i am going to then take 4" flex watt and put it at the back as heat.

I am going to keep my leos till they around 15-20 grams so i can determine their adult color so i can price them right. Not sure about price.

I am going to get certified through fed ex. It takes about 2-3 weeks but its pretty easy.

I can't afford a ton, so how much will those breeding racks with heat cost about? I can afford to breed, but with all the other expenses, I don't want to use a lot of money. I will have two females producing eggs, so I need enough space for all those babies. What do you think the best (while still being cheap) quality way of housing and heating them is? And also, do you suggest I buy a Hova-Bator for incubation or make my own? Thanks. :)

Well my guess is that if you are having 2 egg producing females and you will probably breed a couple times a season my guess is around 100 dollars.
Like i said a 28qt tub would work about 5 bucks a piece i included that in the 100 dollars. And once again 4" flex watt will work. I will be using a hovabator.

How many tubs would I need? Should I house them in pairs?

Um if you breed them to be females i guess you could house them in pairs you would just need 3 or 4 hides. So say you breed 3 times a year with 2 females that is 12 so if you keep them in pairs you would need 6 tubs plus an extra one or 2 if you need to separate.
