Leopard Gecko Emergency

My baby Leopard Gecko is in bad condition. He won't eat, can't pick his head up, and is extremely lethargic. He is not as active as she is normally. I called two reptile vets and neither picked up. I also called someone who works at Petco that I trust, but he didn't know what it was. See this thread for how he is cared for Baby Leopard Geckos. If he is like this tomorrow, I will bring him to the vet. Please help me. Do you know what it is or some home remedies for it?

I don't think anyone, including a vet, could tell you what's wrong without actually examining the gecko. My first gecko did well for about a month and then stopped eating and was diagnosed by the vet as having parasites. It seems as if you're dealing with the night heat issue. If you can't get the reptile vets to answer, contact a local non-reptile vet and ask them whether they know about these reptile vets. I hope it gets better.

I dont see anything about having a UTH in your tank on the other forum that explains your setup. This is the most important heat source, as they need it to digest their food and up their body temps when they need to. Am I correct is saying you don't have one? If you don't you need to as soon as you can. Also your daytime temps are to high. I would think that with a ten gallon tank with a heat light above it would be hard for your little leo to find a cool spot. Hope all works out fine for you and your baby. Let us know how things are going.

Hi,
I hope your baby Leo is doing better.
One thing you might try also is to put some reptile
electrolytes in the gecko's water.
Best of luck.

Thanks for all your help.

Last night I gave him a salt/sugar water electrolyte mixture, but I couldn't get him to take any.

This morning I woke up and he was still alive. I went downstairs to call the vet and made an appointment. I went back upstairs and he was dead. I still brought him to the vet, and the vet said he was sure it was an internal parasite and probably Cryptosporidium. That is what I suspected after doing further research.

If it was crypto, I recommend you check with your vet (or here) about exactly how to disinfect effectively so you don't spread it to your other animals. I also think you should go back to wherever you got this one from and let them know it may have been crypto so they can disinfect.

I don't feel so sad actually.

Of course, I am upset that my Leopard Gecko died, but she wasn't in pain for long. And the vet said she probably aquired the condition very early in her life, so I extended her lifespan by good care.

So at least I gave her as good of a life as she could possibly have had.

alright I understand, but still I have lost a couple of pets in my life and I know how it feels, I lost a dog that was barely 5month old because of some grass desease that got into his eyes and to his nerves and shut them down, and I was really upset because this was supose to be prevented by a shot that is given to dog when they are 1 month old which I paid the vet 80euro to do and after an analysis by another vet it was shown that the first vet had given something entirely different then what he was supose too. Sorry I went of topic its was just to say I understand what you feel.
