Questions about feeding and temps

Hello everyone in the leo community! I have some questions about what the title says. First is I have read so many care sheets and everyone has a different oppinion about feeding and temps. From my knowledge you can gutload your crickets with a commercial gutloader from pet stores but is that true? Next is I heard it is ok to feed 4-5 correct size crickets every other day. Is this ok? Next is do I put vitamin and mineral and calcium with vitamin D3 every feeding? I currently do not have a leo but have been looking into these and African fat tails. Other then these questions they seem extremely easy to maintain and breed. Although I do not plan on breeding for a while. Thank you everyone in advance.

It's probably fine. There are other gutloads that people say could be better, but a reasonable variety of grains with some moisture source will do the trickl.

Babies and juveniles (I would say under 35-40 grams) should be fed every day. Otherwise, start with 4-5 and get a sense of how many it wants to eat. If it finishes them and is looking for more, add a few; if it doesn't eat them all, put in fewer next time. I feed my adults every other day during breeding season and every 3rd day when not breeding.

Next is do I put vitamin and mineral and calcium with vitamin D3 every feeding?
There are 2 ways I feel is best to do it:
a. keep a dish of calcium without D3 in the cage. Dust feeders alternately with calcium with D3 and vitamins, or mix the two supplements 1:1 and dust at every feeding

b. Use Repashy calcium plus to dust feeders at every feeding and don't bother with the calcium in the cage.

Thankyou for replying. how would I want to feed mealworms and can I use them as a staple diet? Also I know what mealworms eat and need but how do you gutload them? Also do you jsut sprinkle in the vitamins if you are feeding mealworms or do you put them in a plastic bag like the crickets? Besides these questions I am almost ready to get one. Soon I will set up the cage and get the right temperature going then I will get one. Has anyone had a good experience with getting one from petsmart? Have yours survived? I was thinking of getting one there from the ones that are on reptile carpet instead of sand.

I bought a Leo form there years back, i think you just have to take the time to really look over the reptile. Ask a sales rep to feed it a few crickets to see how it reacts as well saw look at skin color and rubber lip. looks like gecko has been poped on mouth, things to stay away from. Good luck in you hunt for the right gecko.
