hey everyone,
last week my first egg hatched. since then he has pooped twice and shed once in between poops. so far he hasn't shown any interest in feeding. i've offered both appropriately sized crickets and mealworms. is this normal!?!?!

i've read that they should feed after their first poop or their first shed he's done both and still doesn't want to eat.

any help would be appreciated.

They frequently eat very little at first, even for the first week. Most will start eating on their own but may eat only 1 or 2 mealworms a day. Occasionally I'll have one that doesn't seem to be eating although it's still active and I may "help" it a bit by holding it and gently pressing a mealworm against its mouth until it opens and bites it. Make sure you're not feeding tiny feeder (like pinhead crickets or mealworms less than 1/4") because those may actually be harder to notice and catch. Hatchlings can eat bigger feeders than you can imagine. I once saw an 11 gram hatchling eat 2 superworms. I have no idea where she put them, but 2 days later she weighed 14 grams.
