Sad day!

:cry:

When I got home today I noticed that one my most favorite Underwoodisaurus milii females was dead. Not only was she an amazingly colored animal, she was one of the first that I've ever produced.

I put my females together to cool them, and apparently one of the females wasn't a female. Subsequently all the real females in the group became gravid. She was the last to lay and she never made it. I'm really surprised because I had been pumping her full of calcium but I'm assuming she just wasn't ready to start laying after the cooling period, nutrition wise?

I'm pretty sad. I just wanted to share with you guys.

Here are some of her photos over the years;

Regards,
Ira

I'm very sorry to hear that. I would love to get into Aussie geckos in the future, but I'm a grad student and don't have the capitol. I really envy all of the people on GU that work with them. Hope that you get some nice babies out of this situation. All the best!

Thank you. I'm actually finishing up my undergrad Richard, you can imagine, losing a gecko like that is rough financially too. The hobby is definitely rewarding, but it can really bring you down when you grow attached to these little guys.

Sorry to hear that! Always sucks losing a pet, especially when you're as attatched as you two sounded. My condolences,

bummer. I lost my favorite male H. triedrus unexpectedly a few weeks ago. I was fairly distraught, I can imagine what you're going through :/

Sorry to hear Ira, I know how it can feel to lose geckos...sometimes it's almost to the point you want to give up. Or at least that's how I feel sometimes. There are many more to come though ;-)

Very bad news. I also have a bad news same as you, I have a pair of Nephrurus Laevissimus since December,08. At first, they are very active, one of them did not eat suddenly. it turned to weak only 2 days. I called the vet immedately and make a appointment on 02.02.09. Last Sunday I go to work, I found that it was very weak. When I backed to home, it was died. I called the vet and cancelled the appointment. In fact, I am so sad. Luckly, the other Nephrurus Laevissimus is also active. After this accident, I found that I am so useless. I must spend much time to take care my Nephrurus Laevissimus.
