Sorry, but I don't think you will get the answers you are looking for. Day geckos are probably the worst type of gecko to try to handle. They are extremely fast and have delicate skin. They are beautiful and are best for display only.

So to answer your question - its probably best not to even try. They will get tame in the sense that they will get used to you sticking your hand in the tank for feeding and cleaning, but they really don't like to be handled.

If your animals is till really young it will just take some time. It could take a year of trying before you can handle them. Most of my geckos don't run anymore when I stick my hand in the cage but most of them wont let me touch them.

I wouldnt go as far as calling it "tame", but I have gotten my gold dust female quite comfortable with my presence. I had moved her tank next to my computer desk and with me doing homework a lot, she was used to me being around. She became increasingly curious and would hang out on the door watching me. I would often take breaks and stick my arm in the cage and she would climb onto my arm and sit there. She got so used to it she would beg at the door. I often handfeed her crickets and baby food too. My male is too shy though, he wont warm up to me, but you could try what I have done to see if it works for you. One thing though, I would never force anything on them, never reach for them, let them come to you when they are ready. If you reach for them they get spooked easy and that can make them less comfortable with you. They al have different personalities and I think my female is an exception to the norm for sure so dont expect it to work, its just an idea. Just my two cents :)

well, if your animal is wild caught, it will take a whole lot more patients and time, but it is still possible. If it is wild caught, try the food with the long forceps, then post your had against the side of the cage and hold the food item over your posted arm to get the gecko to climb onto your arm. Do this little by little. I have a female Standings that i got when i was 12 yrs old, Im 27 now, that was wild caught. She was never tame, but wild caught animals have a tendency to become 'shy' really quickly.

But captive born day geckos are real easy to tame/train, regardless of species. I have 7 baby gold dusts(theyre all over a year old now) that were tame like leopard geckos. I havent worked with them in a couple weeks, but it would take less than a week to get them to the point were i can pick them up and they wont run away.

Standings and all P.mads are much much easier than the smaller species.
