I have 2 day geckos, a gold dust who's about 3 years old and a klemmeri who's about 2 (they may be 4 and 3, I've lost track of time). They both seem more enthusiastic about the baby food than the crickets though I feed both. I have not seen anyone eat a cricket in awhile, though the crickets eventually disappear. I haven't seen either eat baby food out of the dish, but it disappears consistently. I imagine it's OK, but you may want to keep putting crickets in there just in case.

some geckos just lose their interest in crickets all together, One of my breeding pairs of cresteds loves crickets she will eat them within seconds ...but the male even when seperated doesnt have any interest but he macks down on cgd and baby food

I won't lie, my pair of grandis almost exclusively ate baby food.

I used peach (I think there was some mango in there too) with calcium mixed in, and sometimes also vitamins. They seemed happy and healthy to me.
