Temp ?

Hi right now I'm thinking about getting a bigger light because I just moved my Leos to a 26 gallon long. My question is the past few days the warm side ground temperature has been in between 75-79. It has been pretty cold where I live. Can Leos survive this temperature for 1-2 weeks? Right now they seem fine, very active at night. They are eating regularly and enjoy being handled every other day. The night temps are 68-73. When I do pick them up they seem at an average temperature. I know the temp here will warm up in a week or 2. By then it will be back to normal. 85-90 in the day on the warm side.

I think they should be fine, but not for two weeks. That's pretty cold. My cool side is 80. You don't want them to get sick or get a respiratory infection.

Well for the season its fine, they should just be a little less active, and should it less, to them a lower temperature will cause brumation, like hibernation but without all the sleeping for 6 month. Mine is brumating right now and I'll bring the temp back up to normal in about a week, I usually do it for about 4 to 5 month, never had a problem.

you should get an under tank heater so they have a warm spot of about 87-95F try not to go over 95F on the warm side and about 80ishF on the cool side.

My tank is acrylic and at the pet store that I go to they only sell undertank heaters for glass. The temp has rosen to 83 in the tank and in a couple of days it will be about 90.

Thanks everyone for your opinions!

Also you dont have to worry abiout getting another thermo for the undertank heater because the under mat heaters dont normally go over 100 degress.

I would also like to know how he plans on doing this as well. I use to just use a regular red heat bulb for mine and said I would never pick up a uth but after getting on here and finding out they need uth for digestion I went and purchased one and it was the best thing I did. I like the lights though and turn them on once in a while for night viewing and stuff but I agree 100% leos need a uth no question about it.

They don't need UTH for digestion. Gregg Madden on Late Night Leos even said they don't need the belly heat to digest. Besides I've had mine for over 4 months and they seem to not have any digestion problems.
