Riopa fernandi sexing help needed

I got what I assume is a pair, but I would like to find some info regarding sexing them. I know it is hard, but maybe someone can help me here. Smaller of the two I got is much brighter in color and has more intensive red on his side. The bigger one has wider head, but I thought male should have intensive color...so I am confused.

Any info or reference is welcome!

Thanks in advance!

Hello Kimo,

sexing adult Riopa is extremely difficult, because there is no sexual dichromatism, and the size is almost the same from males and females.
The other way is to probe them, but you need experience to do this, because of hurting the animal.
I have a Fireskink by myself, and dont know, which gender. No one could tell me for sure, what it is,so i keep the animal alone. Its very sad, because i would love to breed them. The offspring is one of the most colourful animal i ever saw.

BTW:They have a new name:Lepidothyris fernandi fernandi

If you need the paper, send me your emailadress.

Best
Matthias
