Is Reptile Xtra ok for Leopard Geckos?

Hey again everyone,

I was in the store the other day and I saw this stuff called Reptile Xtra which is an Anti-parasitic meal for plant eating and insect/plant eating lizards and turtles. So basically, I just wanted to know if anyone has ever used it for leopard geckos. I worm all of the animals on my farm at the same time regardless of whether I think they need it or not because I know it will help if they have any parasites but it also will not hurt them if they do. So I'm pretty sure that "worming" my geckos will also not hurt them if they do not have anything. However I just brought two new geckos home so I wanted to give them something just in case and I thought that this Reptile Xtra would be perfect if it was ok to give to leos. Any suggestions?

From what I have been able to find it contains pancur and flagyl both used as anti parasite meds. The problem is the current ones are formulated for reptiles that have greens as part of their diet and may harm pure insectivore reptiles (such as leopard geckos). Personally I wouldn't use it until they come out with the new ones for insectivores.

ok sounds good. Thanks for the insight! I think I will go and talk to my vet about something I could give them that I wont have to bring them in to get. Of course I could just get a fecal done and if no parasites then don't even worry about giving them anything. BTW, anyone have any idea as to the cost of a fecal test?

Personally, I prefer not to give prophylactic medications to either humans or animals because of possible side effects and also potential for the targets of these medications developing resistance, though I know other people do.
