Henk changed.

Here are some new pictures of Henk. He has changed a LOT!
My parents saw them when we first took him home and haven't seen him since then. They were at our place a day ago and asked about Henk, while they were standing in front of his viv. When we told them that the gecko inside that viv was Henk, they just could not believe it. They asked what happend to the skinny black crocodile faced gecko he used to be
He gained some weight and looks a lot better now. He is shedding great and eats like a pig lol. We tried some phoenix worms and he liked them

And his color is amazing!
At day he is just pale grey and at night he is brown with green...... And sometimes it looks like he has a cat paw print on his back... REALLY COOL!
We just love this species and can't wait till we have a nice girlfriend for him.

It's not very clear on the photo, but he has a faint paw print on his back We think it looks very cool...

We found some information about something called "Diego Henkeli", could our henkeli be one?
And if so, what does that mean breeding wise.... will we be able to breed him to a "normal" Henkeli, since females are hard to find, let alone a Diego Henkeli female....
Or is this something not done......

There is a description of them in the Leaf-tailed book. They have a cat paw print on their back.....

We saw the topic about diego henkeli on this forum, but still don't know if ours is a diego..... We got him from a German who said that he bred it himself, but never mentioned the name diego to us..... And we still want to know if a diego can be bred to a normal henkeli or not.

Why would you think that it would not be possible? There are a lot of variety within this species, which could be differences in locality, but I can not imagine that there would not be match with your 'diego' with other henkeli's?! Do you know if the German guy mentioned that both parents had a similar pattern or locality? Its a funny pattern..

Hi Debbie, I have looked in the book you mentioned and I am sure its a sikorae sp they are talking about. If you look on page 141 its shows a pic of a sikorae with a very distinct cats paw print on its back.
It says thet are known as the Diego Henekli in the pet trade,I think something has been lost in the translation as on page 143 under Husbandry it says they can be kept like sikorae sp.

That is why we wondered if a diego henkeli (when the book indeed calls them sikorae) could be paired up with a henkeli. Cause to us, he looks more like a henkeli than like a sikorae. He has got henkeli eyes, cause there is no yellow ring, like sikorae have. And i read somewere that there are diego henkeli and diego sikorae. We contacted the breeder but he doesn't awnser our emails.

There is a 'Diego henkeli', although I have not heard of a Diego sikorae, the Diego U. henkeli are smaller than normal henkeli and stockier but their patterning can vary greatly from specimen to specimen. If the breeder had normal sized adults then these would not be Diego henkeli.
