help with new male eclipse

hey everyone. I have a male eclipse that i picked up this weekend. righ tnow I have him in a 10 gallon with computer paper as his substrate. a humid hide on the warm side and a cool hide. He also has a water dish, mealworm bowl and a calcium dish. I am making a dry hide for his warm side as I type this. My question is, how can I get a leopard gecko which has been raised on crickets (never been fed meal worms) to eat them? He is eating very well. About 4-6 crickets a day, but I want to give him a more varied diet.

Sure you can

Be patient but it can take a while and for the first weeks you cant expect much eating at all

Here's what you can do. Get you a food dish with slick sides (glass works great). Get some crickets. Break the back legs of the crickets and put them in the food dish that they can't get out. Do this for a week or two, until your gecko gets used to feeding in that dish. Then, start putting some mealworms in that dish instead. Before long, your gecko will associate the dish with food and it makes the transition easier. That is how I have done it for years.

Have you actually tried feeding mealworms yet? It may eat them with no problems. I'd try just giving him some first to see what he does. It might not be an issue.

Well, I got him to eat one. I cut it enough to get a little of the guys to come out and got him to taste it. After that, I dropped it and he took it from there. I also got a glass dish for the mealies. Maybe he'll warm up to them.
