Gekko sp. Communial Living

Hi,

I know communial vivs are a vastly debated topic, but what are peoples thoughts on a keeping several Gekko sp. in a community viv? Which species, if any would be most likely to co-exist together? IE Grossmanni and Ulikovski?

This is'nt something I intend to do, I just thought a naturalistic community Gekko vivarium of a very large size (IE 6ft tall x 5ft wide) would make a beautiful display piece. It would be hard work finding any eggs should any breeding occur in something that size, there would, i imagine, be a large amount of planting to be done. :biggrin:

Maybe its not a feasible thought, but it would certainly be a stunning display

Gekko plus Gekko is much more tricky than Gekko plus completely unrelated species. Similar species can compete for territory and food much more easily than dissimilar ones.
To give you a more detailed answer: I would never mix several species of the smithii group or the petricolus group. Thus ulikovskii and grossmanni I guess is a no go.
I do have a single surplus vittatus male (which never found a new owner due to some flaws) in a tank together with G. smithii without any visible interaction or aggressivity. These two species are quite dissimilar and that might be the reason for them getting along well even in that quite small 100g tank.
