Living in the Gaslamp District of San Diego...

My lady and I have switched our destination to San Diego instead of Rancho Santa Margarita. We found an amazing apartment within a few blocks of the Gaslamp District of San Diego. I know this may be annoying, but we will be officially moved in on July 8-9th. Does anyone have any idea’s on where to work dealing with reptiles or exotic fish. I sent my resume to Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Pet Kingdom, and I’ll be applying at Reptile City upon our moving in arrival. Would love an opportunity to further my knowledge/experience, and I can send my resume upon request. I am currently enrolled in College, to gain associates degree in structural biology, and biochemistry. I may change routes within the biology field depending on my hands on experience. I have saved three years for California, and I plan on pursuing my dream within Zoology. Would greatly appreciate some advice.

Sincerely,

Scott…

good luck with PK..... I know the managers of both fish and reptiles VERY well. Unfortunately for you they just got done hiring.

I did talk with a middle aged lady from the register (Believe she was an owner), and she did state they have a fairly structured crew. I had a few conversations with the employee's (Gave one my resume), they were quite knowledgeable, I threw them a few questions on specific reptiles they had (They were exact). Pretty impressive selection, was not expecting that from the outside Appearance. I also strongly doubt I'll get hired there, but trying never hurts. Anyways, thanks for the heads up. I prey my walk in interviews next week help with my dilemma.

The staff at PK is tits on the most knowledgeable crew in the city, they even rip LLL to shreds. Matt knows his $hit when it comes to snakes and most other things. Derek is well versed in a multitude of species, Ryan is cool and can hang with the best when it comes to husbandry, Dan works at the zoo full time and just moonlights at PK and Jake, well, Jake is like the retarded baby brother that you never wanted, but don't have the heart to abandon in the desert....

I hope any one who reads this will give PK a serious shot as your one stop herp shop.

p.s. If anybody here digs on turtles, you need to head over to the fresh water fish dept and chat with my buddy Ron. He's like a chelonian wizard.

I definitely agree for the most part, on what I’ve witnessed there in person. I did see one employee that was somewhat of a loner, and pondered around (Possibly this adopted child ha). Enough of that, I do not prefer to judge strongly off first impressions. Was among my top five pet shops which I have visited, based from their semi and rare species. Could not believe they had a Hypancistrus Zebra, for those who are into ichthyology as well.
