anyone care to pass on any tips on keeping day geckos i'm thinking about getting some (i have been around leos,fattails,tokays.rhacs) for years now just fancy a new gecko to try my luck on
my want list is.
standings day gecko(think i may have sorted some of then)
gold dusts(there like hens teeth to find)
pea**** (if i can find some)
please bear in mind i'm also from the uk(sunny england it always rains lol)
any others i should be aware of?
nothing set in stone yet so open to options on others so fire away.
be aware tho i'm still learning about the geckos and have read most of whats about on cyberspace.

Most of what you need to know is on the internet, on this or one of the other English (half English) Phelsuma Websites so you're looking in the right place for the info. The primary needs are good lighting and humidity. The latter aspect is a drawback to going away for more than a couple of days, unless you have someone to look after them or have an automated misting system. P standingi likes things a little drier and is one of the easiest to start with. Not much to choose between P laticauda laticauda and P quadriocellata quadriocellata in terms of difficulty in keeping. Most of those two available in UK will be WC imports though....but not all...you don't have to look very far in the UK to find CB standingi, laticauda, klemmeri plus all the more difficult Mauritian species :biggrin:

Standingii would be the easiest since they're not as tropical as most other day geckos, between gold dusts and pea****s I'd choose pea****s every time. They seem much more friendlier if just as easy as gold dust's, but again I'm partial since they were my first. I know many may disagree but I think grandis are quite easy to start with, plus here in Canada they're the most readily available.
