Stella's being put down.

I can't do it. She's improving, but I can't do it.

For the rest of her life she'll be blind, unable to walk, and scared.

Watching her in the tank, she just curls up, and lays down. Pooping, and puking in the same spot. Because she can't walk to go somewhere else, and can't feed on her own.

I'd have to hand feed her, and wipe her when she poo's. That's not a life for anything.

We're going to put her down tonight, and bury her tomorrow.

Her memorial will (as with all our pets) be a potted planted, a flower or plant the represents their color and/or personality. They will be buried in the soil with the plant. Wherever we move, our plants go with us.

We call our plants by their names. Kind of silly, but we do.

Once it's done, I'll take some pictures.

It's never easy getting any animal that you know will have a very slim chance of survival, and coming to the conclusion that they just can't live like that. We didn't attach ourselves to her, we haven't had her for even 12 hours. We knew it would most likely come to this. But you still cry, more so this time for the memories of all our other loved family members, people and animals, that have passed in the recent years.

Stella will be in a better place. And she'll always be with us. Death by animal cruelty.

i'm sorry for your loss but it is the right thing to do its just terrible that people can do this to an animal. if i had a choice i would make animal cruelty a life sentence in prison and put them through what the animal went through. again sorry for your loss. and you are doing the right thing no animal should live through that.

Letting go

Atleast she spent her final days in a far better place than she would have if she stayed with that loser who put her in the shoebox :-x So sorry you had to lose her so soon. In situations like this you keep thinking there is one more thing you can do to make things better and there never is. I think, after you have tried everthing you possibly can, all you can really do is let go.

One more thing though: what did you do about Stella's parasite problem? I know you said in your other post that it wasn't for certain but that might explain the puking. Anything you could do to get rid of those pinworms?

The puking wasn't from the parasite treatment, she was doing it before the treatment. The vet said the parasites were taking over, causing her to puke. I had her not even 24 hours (I got her 11pm last night), so a lot of treatments didn't start until I had the supplies. I would of continued, but she was blind and couldn't walk. It'd just be making her better for her to be put down.

Oh Allee, that's so sad. Poor lil leo. But she is better off in a much better place. You did the best you could and gave it yor all, as usual. I'm sure she was
I find it hard to believe people can be so cruel to living, breathing beings so harmless and helpless. It just doesn't make since to me...Well, RIP Stella, you can be happy now.

Parasites and puking

That's kinda what I meant about the puking. Some parasites will do that. Anyway, given the length of time you had her, I don't think there was anything you could have done. Atleast you didn't have her long enough to form the same kind of bond you have with your other two leeopard geckos.
