Hello , My name is Mark and i am From Quebec , Canada. I am french but i can easily Write , Speak and Read English. I am new to geckos.
Got mine August 15 :) It is a Juvenile Leopard Gecko but i dont know if its a Male of a female... Ill look when it will get more used on being Handeled. I have informed myself for about a week before buying my first Reptile.
Here's a Picture of my Tank ( 20 Gallons High ) and i would like to have advises on what it is missing or what could be wrong. First , I know theres alot of discutions on what substrate is good or bad. I currently have repti-Sand and in my opinion it will be fine. I also have a Undertank Heater rated for 10-20g. I have added a piece of cardboard box between the bottom of my tang and the substrate. For now the only thing i can think of that is missing is a cave on the Cold side. But enought talking heres the Pics.

Yesterday morning i found out that my Gecko was about to molt. I placed a Humid spot for him to shred his skin. I didnt saw him get into it but couple of hours later he was beautiful again. no skin at all on the Toes :yahoo:. Almost Like he Never molted exept for brighter colours
I also have to say that he is fed Grasshoppers for now.
When i decided myself to buy one , I had to order one because the pet shop didnt had any in stock. He was supposed to come Friday but there was a error in the shipping and he wasnt shipped. So the Girl at the Pet shop called and they sended it Express at no charge. When they received it Saturday they took their cars and they came right to my door to give it to me , I was so happy. But they didnt bring crickets... They were all dead. So for now im giving him Wild cought Grasshoppers but i know they come from a pesticide and herbicide free environment. I live in a small village wich is really in the wood. So they are 100% safe. BUt i cant do nothing for diseases. I only give my Gecko really Active grasshoppers so if one of them is Sick, He wont be active and wont be fed to my Gecko.
Im getting Crickets Tomorow, Ill get alot because it is far from my house... 45 Min of car.
So if you have any comments , Advices or anything that can help me keeping him Healthy and Happy, Dont hesitate... Reply :nana:

Oh btw i added a flexibranch. Its like a fake branch that is flexible. and the cavern you see has magnets on it, The cave goes inside the terra and the other part go outside. So i can look at my Gecko without disturbing him. And the cave is hiding a Flat rock i putted there. It is right on top of the UTH so the rock is a little bit heated from the UTH.

A small piece of advice.

To keep your gecko healthy and happy you should consider raising your own feeder insects so you will not have to depend only on ordered ones and to be able to feed it a variety of insects-highly recommended as it's diet in nature consists on a wide range of insects these geckos feed on.
I suggest that you'll start a colony of blaptica dubia roaches - they are very easy to breed and they do not climb smooth surfaces and do not fly [the females are wingless],and start raising crickets and Zophobas morio.
All of them do not climb glass or smooth plastic so they are ideal for your gecko [that is a ground dweller and can not climb smooth surfafes in order to chase insects such as lobster roaches].

CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW GECKO - MAZEL TOV !

Thanks for the Advice ! I already was thinking of raising my own crickets but what should i offer them for them to breed ? Do they need special care when we want to breed them of they will just do it by their own ? I also forgot to say i also give my gecko a small bowl of Wardley reptile Multi-Vitamins for Reptiles & Amphibians. Is this a good product ? I also put some on his food before giving it to him. Like a Shake and Bake
I also heard that Juveniles wont stop eating by their own... Is it true ?
I give him 2 or 3 grasshoppers a day ( depending on the size ) and he eat them as soon as he see them. Should i give him more ?
Thanks :)
