Gecko land - new terrariums

I have been doing some changes about my leopard gecko’s tanks. Main change was building “underground shelters” for them. That way I saved some floor space and they seem to like it much better…

This is a tank for a male…

Flooring...is that wood?

Very nice. I love the design for both terrariums. They are functional and simplistic while still retaining a natural look, and I love the stuff you put into it like the driftwood and the slate (?) hide with the underground thingy inside. If I may ask, how much floor space do you have for these tanks? And what are you using for the flooring? I recognise the green stuff as some sort of carpet but the brown looks more like wood to me...in which case I might worry a bit about it overheating from the overhead lamp and maybe becoming a fire hazard. That's just me though. Nice work!

The green stuff, I would assume, is reptile carpet, which is known for harboring bacteria. I would switch to shelf liner. It is not as bad for bacteria as the repti carpet is. Also, what did you make the under ground out of? It looks great!

Floor space is 50cm x 40cm. Both stuffs on the floor are sort of carpet material (brown one is the shelf liner :) I use only carpet for a substrate in all of my terrariums - much easier to maintain. Under it, there is 5 cm deep polystyrene with cut out space for „underground shelter“- plastic boxes with wet substrate.

Beautiful enclosures!!!!
If I didn't have so many geckos, I'd LOVE to make them each a beautiful enclosure.
