I fear the worse and I think I have an egg bound crestie, I know she is gravid..but she has been since the beginning of summer and now it appears to me that she is losing weight. I can feel the eggs inside of her as well. However she is still quite active. What do I do to get her to lay. I have provided a nesting box and the temp. is in the mid to upper 70s during the day now as it is getting colder.

Hi there:

You might want to talk to a herp vet and see if there is anything you can do. If her eggs are stuck(i can't think of the proper word for this) than there might not be another option except for surgery. Try adding alot of calcium to her diet and keep up her fluids and add a uva/b light to help synthize calcium and d3.

good luck

Im gonna try and find a vet for her, but in the mean time ill try those other methods. Should I have had a uv bulb on her the whole time or is this due to the situation, I always thought a uv bulb was unnecessary and would stress the animals out.

dont allow your temps to go to high
i myself wont allow mine to go over 76

i too think the u/v bulb is unnecessary if you are supplementing calcium + d3 already

what are you feeding ?

over the summer the temps were at 78 max and dropped down at night now they r slowly dropping as it gets colder and my other animals are going into hibernation.

She get fed crickets 3-4 times a week that are dusted with repcal calcium and minerals and the other days of the week she is fed the cgd mixed with baby food and I dont add any supplements to that

yeah repcal is the one with the d3
and I add the babyfood because all my guys ate just plain baby food for a while then I tried to switch them and none of them liked the cgd, so I mix them to get them to eat it. Also when I gave them just babyfood it was always mixed with calcium and vitamins,
