Question about humidity control

Does having a water dish in my leo's tank supply him with enough moisture/humidity? That is how his tank has always been but I keep reading about needing a moist moss substance to supply enough humidity.
What is the right way to control the humidity in his tank?

thanks

Ideally the general environment should be on the dry side, but they benefit from a small area of humidity to which they can retreat, lick water drops and soften up for shed. That's what the humid hide is for. Some geckos choose to spend all their time in the humid hide and that's OK too. For best results, provide a water dish and an enclosed humid hide and let the rest of the environment stay relatively dry.

We use tubs in a rack so we just mist the hide when they are going into shed. Otherwise the water dish is what provides any moisture. If we find the room gets too dry we do have a humnidier we can put in there to keep it around 30%.

I don't pay attention to actual percentages but as long as my hide is moist then I know it's all good. I keep at least one moist hide and at least one dry hide in each setup. Just depends on the size of tank and how leos are in there. But as long as you mist or keep 1 hide moist then you should be fine for shedding purposes.

I made a humid hide for Stitch and he loves it. Almost every time i go to see him he is in it. I'm ged I made it. Thanks for the advise!
