L. Williamsi Retained Shed Problem

My male has problems shedding, for two cycles now. He had trouble shedding once where the skin on the insides of his legs would not fall off and now his whole tail and inside legs are retaining the shed. I tried to remove the shed the first time with tweezers but not only was it difficult on such a small guy but also the skin did not seem like it was 'ready' to come off.

What should I do about this retained shed and how can I stop this from happening?

40% humidity is on the low side. Try increasing the humidity to around 60-80%.

A great tip I picked up is to place a few cork bark pieces in the tank or use as background in general so the gecko has something to rub on and help aide shed.

If the gecko is still having trouble after you have raised the humidity you will want to look for other issues, such as parasites, vitamin deficiency, stress, etc and get it to the vet for assistance in getting off any remaining stuck shed.
