after a very long search over the last year or more, and a sleepless night last night,i finally got them here, they are cb by andreas hofer and about 2 years old,im hoping to put them with my other male in the future but hes a bit bigger than them,(around the same age)
anyone got any advise for multiple male groups?obviously i would like to find some more females but these have taken long enough to find,(not like in the states where you guys seem to be swimming in them, lol)
anyway here are the pics(taken by andreas,i dont want to stress them)
the female

ive keep a few species of uroplatus and even though i had a male phant already,i always panic a bit when a new uro comes along,

anyway any advise, tips etc are very welcome

Hi

Grats on your new phants, the are awsome, especially the male OMG. and the amount of green.
They look healthy, and I hope they will do great and ortunatly breed in no time.

Im sorry that I cant help you out, with the male-male cageing.

But the are stunning

The male pattern is fantastic! I have a pair, I keep them separately.
I think keep 2 males together isn't a good ideas, but I never tried.

thanks guys,i must say i think i prefer the female, only her tail is alot smaller than the 2 males, almost like a long tailed ebanaui, but i guess thats just the diversity you get in phantasticus,
yeah ive got reservations myself, andreas told me he keeps a group of 2.2 together without a problem, and ive seen that others have similar set ups but as i say the male i have is bigger than either of the new pair,so im not sure how 2.1 would work out?
id like to know weights of breeding adults if anyone has any?
not that ill be getting them out in a hurry but when and if i get a chance to get them on scales it would be good to know that im safe to breed the female,
ive only ever seen these 3 phants in the flesh(thats how rare they are over here)so if my male is anything to go by these still have a bit of growing to do??????:/
ill get some of my own shots, and eventualy in a month or so some shots of all of them together just for size referance,as i say before today i only had my male to go by,seeing them today has got me questioning my judgement,i cant work out if they are fully grown,

also if anyone knows of any female phants for sale in europe id be much abliged, its so hard to find the right contacts,

i think thats why they are so few and far between over here, its either cb or illigally wild caught animals,
i feel very lucky to have found them, but i realy want a few more females, then potentialy i could have 2 unrelated groups:)

my sentiment exactly!
just looking at them a little closer, they are definately smaller than my male,i wonder if he is the bigger form, anyone know how much bigger and or any way to drfine them,i will have to contact the guy i got him from,i think i asked and he just said phantasticus,im sure there are more locals than are recognised, the female barely has any spines either,im very intreiged,i think a little investigating is in order,
obviously any help would be appreciated:)

a few of my own shots, takn on a camera phone so please forgive the quality,
you cant realy tell with the females tail,i couldnt get the right angle,it isnt so much shorter as it is thinner than the males tail,it may be that she is a little dehydrated and the edges of the tail have curled under, anyway:)

Cant help you out, with the big form phants. One I know is going to recieve some on Hamm, i think there was a thread about it, a few clicks back.
But keeping 2.1 I wouldent recommend.the rather 1.1 thats my opinion:)

Regarding finding a female, I dont think you are going to find a singel as you properbly know. Your best bet, it to look on terrastik.com I think there is a couple og phants for sale (in europe).

Again, Damn your geckos are stunning, cant wait till I go and pick up mine.

Not to remove your threads subject, but do you have photos of the enclouser you keep them in?

yeah here it is,
exo 60/45/60cm,they have plenty of space, and maybe some more room for females if and when i can find them,:)(my other male dosnt have us much room)
as the female is a little smaller i just want to give her plenty of space incase she wants to hide away,
so far ive just got a ficus benjamina with a few twigs in there, once im sure they are fighting fit i will start to add a few more plants and stcks etc,

any suggestions/critisisms are welcome,it is a pretty simple set up at the moment

Looks great, and your plans regarding cageing sounds good.
you got the basic covered, and as you mention when they have proven they are strong eaters and can shed whitout problems. Then they should have lots of plants, and some lief, ground cover.

An idea on a plant that seems to be good with phants, is the umbrella plant(cant find the latin name) but if you look trough a couple of older threads, then they are to find:)

thanks, yes im familiar with the plant you mean,i will look into getting 1,
anyone else got any suggestions/critisisms,im not a proud man,i welcome any discussion on care meathods for these rare and fasinating geckos,
at the moment the temps are between 65/70 and 75 just under the lights, its been quite cold over here, but i can happily let my rhacs go down into the low 60s at night(im currently cycling them, the breeders have stopped laying etc),so the uroplatus should be fine,

quite freaky, ive seen the temp gage at 66.6 quite a few times, maybe they realy are satanic, guess that makes me a devil worshiper!:muhaha:

Your temp. are perfect, but worshipper ? haha I hope not:)

I'm also letting my rhacs, go at the same temp. know. (22.6 C)

What light fo you use?

thanks gollum,i will have to order some carpet moss,i think it looks so natural,

i just weighed the pair, the female is just 4grams and the male 4.3grams,
i couldnt get to the other male without pulling the viv apart, but i would say he is quite a bit heavier,

does anyone have weights of their fully grown adults please?

nice pics.

if they eat, drink and poop. Then, I would leave them alone, just, sprying, feeding. And make sure they are in the right conditions, then they should be fine.

They are still relativ new in their surroundings so give em some time.:D

If they dont eat, or drink, then I would seperate them, or give them more cover.

how are they doing for you so far?
