Lorikeet nectar

There was a post on this some time ago in the Crestie section, but no one responded.

Anyone ever feed Lorikeet nectar to their Day or other nectar eating geckos?

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, Lorikeets are Australian parrots that feed on nectar almost exclusively and so for those that keep them there are prepared nectar formulas.

Yeah I have used it in the past it's ok but they really never took a liking to it like my normal stuff.
And it is expensive.

I just feel like there's better stuff out there to feed geckos these days. I have more confidence in cgd or Clark's diet than food made for birds or babies.

Well to be honest lories and phelsuma both are nector eater's so it stand's to reason that something derived for a nector loving bird would be fine for phelsuma but in my honest opinion there are probally better one's out there than I used so try and find the best one it couldnt hurt.

I am not implying that all they eat is nectar. And according to your statement's you have not tried any for your phelsuma I have alot of older keeper's such as myself had to use these thing's because there was nothing else available at the time.Time's have changed of course but just like reptile care has advanced so has lori husbandry and I am sure that there are suitable formula's available.

Now this cought my eye. I've been thinking about how their wild diet contains nectar (of course not entirely but in portions). My issues was finding a safe brand of nectar, there are quite a few spread about out there, due to the demand of gardeners who like humming birds. I just wasn't sure if nectar for wild humming birds would be safe, now nectar for pet lorikeets sounds like it should be free of harmfull preservatives. If I do add it to their diet, it would of course be a supplimental (side dish of sorts). Im going to keep up with their diet of mealworms and occasional mashed mango (use the zoomed stuff, gotta mash it up a bit though). Just seems like it would be a nice thing for them to snack on occasionally, and would help replicate a natural diet maybe.

Any brands you've used or seen in pet stores?
