Traveling with a Crested Gecko

Hello, All
I'm a college student thinking of getting a crested gecko but I have to travel home during beaks. I have about a 6 hour drive home and go back about 4 times during the year for no less than a week at a time. I'm wondering how I could do this safely? If it's a good idea to even get one with all that travel?

Could you get someone to look after your cresty at this time? If the weather is nice though, I am sure that the temperature will be fine. Just keep the humidity up in the tank. If you drive your own car, and you do decide to get a crested gecko, you should take regular breaks to check the temperature, check if it's ok etc. I would make him really stable, by maybe putting his tank on the floor on front passenger side, and making sure the tank won't rock about. Also taking care of anything in the tank that could potentially fall on him.
In all, the travelling may stress a baby gecko, and it may be wise to wait a while before getting one. Unless you can get someone to feed him while you are away. :)

Get 2 tanks, one home and one at your student room then an Styrofoam box.
But do not stay and open the Styrofoam box, you will just let the warmth out of it so it would only do more harm then good to check out the temperatur. instead get an thermometer with cable and put the cable in the box and then you got an traveling box for your little crestie
