whilst doing the morning rounds thismorning i found one of my ltc female phants in what looked like a dying pose,
after closer inspection she is still alive, she looks dehydrated and crickets had had at her tail a bit, when i picked her up to move her i was shocked to see her without full use of limbs, she can move her legs but seems like her toes are all pinched together,i think she may have had a seizure or somthing, she hasnt realy shown any signs of ill health untill i found her thismorning,
realy thought she was looking healthy and theyve all been getting a variety of suplements etc,i had treated a small wound on her mouth with iodine and it had all but cleared up,
i wonder if she maybe started cycling and it is calcium thing or what,
im so worried, and if my instincts are right she might not make it through,
ive put here in a smaller set up on newspaper so she dosnt swallow any substrate and tried dabbing a calcium/cgd mix on her nose incase it was down to food, but she didnt take much so i just left her,
i checked about an hour ago and she is still reacting a little to being sprayed, although i fear the worse,im weighing up a visit to the vets, just not sure if its worth the stress of the journey,
what a catch 22,i just hate these moments,i just dont get it,she was looking healthy and active a few days ago,
ive lost a few animals in my time but it dosnt get any easier, espesially with this genus,
im just hoping she some how pulls through, although im preparing from the worse,
any advise or insight on the matter would be much appreciated,

thanks in advance guys

That sucks. My first guess would be calcium based on the herky jerky movements. Having mentioned her toes pinched together. A bad shed could also be part of the cause...Tough to really guess with out seeing her first hand.

There may still be hope. I had a young female that crashed a year or so ago. She came right back around with a little liquid calcium. If you think that might be the case, get something in her and give her space. Stressing her out will only make things worse.

Good luck!

she was still alive thismorning but i just came home to find her gone,id just got some seringe plungers too,as i hadnt had any luck dabbing on calcium,i was gonna try and open her mouth to make sure she got some,i wasnt expecting her to get through it but its always a gutting feeling,
im racking my brain as to what it was, shed had plenty of dusted crickets and looked quite hefty but now shes dead she looks so skinny, its crazy how quick she deteriated, she looks a different gecko now,
maybe she had started cycling, but as i say i was dusting every feeding as my other female is looking like she may be gravid,(touch wood)
i dont know how else i could have got more calcium in her without stressing her,my instincts say calcium crash but she should have had plenty,
when i opened her mouth just now the calcium sacks didnt look small either,

none the less im both gutted and confused right now!:(

That's a shame. They can go south pretty quickly... New arrivals in particular. Sometimes there's just not much you can do.

Hope the others will settle in well.
