HELP! - Pasteuri Pair

Hi. I tried to introduce my pasteuri pair today in this viv:

I have been watching them for the last 3 hour while revising. The male displays to the female when he sees her, and walks right up to her and shakes his head and hunches up. She just sits there and does not respond. He gets bored and walks off aster a while. This has happened several times. Also, the male is exploring quite a lot, whereas the female lays low and is now hiding in a sanseveria plant. The female seems to have some duds in her stomach (see this thread: http://www.geckosunlimited.com/community/day-geckos-phelsuma/48431-female-pasteuri-update.html ). There does not seem to be any physical violence eg biting. Should i leave the pair together for now and see how they get on, or separate them?

Also, my male ornata came out of his bamboo in the next viv along and tried to attack the pasteuri through the glass wall. He seemed to make a hissing noise (it could possibly have been the pasteuri male). Has anyone heard of vocal ornata or pasteuri? Thanks very much,

Being in the same viv with a male AND being attacked by another one might be quite stressful for the poor female?

Don't worry, I put a visual barrier of paper up as soon as the ornata started attacking the pasteuri.

Go ahead and leave them together, but based on the viv you show you might want to offer more hides(Unless the bamboo tubes are open). This would help them acclimate to cohabitation and also give the female somewhere to go when she is being pressured by the male too much. Mating behavior can take days to determine acceptance. I am sure they will be fine.

Ok thank you very much. I will try put in a few more open bamboo tubes to try provide a few more hiding spots. I noticed a little bit of gentle tail nipping form the male when he was displaying to the female. Should i worry about this? Thanks,

Everything you have said sounds like normal breeding behavior. Often times females or males will be shy for the first few hours/days/weeks all depends on the animals. Just watch and make sure there are no large chunks of skin missing. Thats usually the only reason I seperate animals.

I went to check on them, and the female is shedding her skin. Could that possibly be part of the reason why she didn't want to mate?

Not sure but it sounds like she is doing much better. Your male has some intense colors.
