i want to get some feeder roaches for my cresties. there about 9 months old. i usually feed em crickets other than the regular cgd(wich they only eat very rarely). i want to try roaches beacuse crickest are a hassle to try keeping alive. what type should i get??

my cresties (as well as the garg, leos, sandfish and monitor) get dubia roaches
They dont smell, climb, make a noise, fly or jump and will eat everything!

They seem to be the most common roaches where i am at least, and they breed pretty readily too.
My troops seem to love them :)

i feed mine Blatta lateralis because i've found the dubia just bury them selves in the substrate and my creste just ignores them. the lateralis on the other hand don't burrow and move around and trigger her hunting instincts.

One hint on using dubia roaches that works well with arboreal geckos in particular is to put the dubia in a somewhat tall "gladware" type container that they can't get out of. The cresties (or other arboreal gecko) will quickly learn to climb/dive into the container to get their meals. And the "gladware" type material is soft enough that it doesn't hurt their nose if they dive down hard.

On the other hand, as mentioned above, the lateralis are nice because of the fact that their quick movements trigger feeding response and give more exercise to your geckos lifestyle. Lateralis also breed faster in general than dubia and are cheaper to get started with.

I use both and find them both useful for different situations.

thanks for the info will defiantly try that, but for now i have way more lateralis than dubia so i want to use them as much as possible.
