Hey guys,

I'm really looking to get some of these guys and was hoping someone has bred them and could throw some tips or info, or even a "how to" thread link at me...

I need some help, i have never tried to breed these guys before...

thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

just keep (and breed) them as you would do it with a leopard gecko:
Thin layer of sand, moist hide filled with coconut fibre, water bowl, undertank heater, dust their feeder insects (dubia, superworms, crickets, mealworms)- and thats it. It works fine for me since several years and I think they are one of the easiest species to keep and breed.

Thanks

Belly heat is better....more natural for a nocturnal lizard and doesn't tend to dry as much as a heat lamp IME.

About black light bulbs BTW...I would be really careful with them especially with animals that rely on the lamp solely for heat (ie using them in place of belly heat). They put out a fair bit of UV light and it may actually be enough to harm your animals if they are having to bask under it constantly to stay at temp.

That said, one thing I am looking at is supplementing a small amount of UV for my Nephrurus. Something like an hour or two a day of basking full spectrum lighting in addition to the normal hot hide with belly heat. Will probably only do this with one pair of my breeders next season but curious if it will make a difference in female survivability/health after multiple clutches. As I noted above, I do worry about humidity issues with the lamp so it will be something I factor into my care regimen.
