How to socialize my leo?

I got it for christmas, and at christmas it was about 6 weeks old. So it's still very little. When I go to take the lights off and the cage lid off, to put it's crickets in the tank, it runs to his half-log hide and stays there for around an hour then will come out to eat. And then goes back in it's hide for a little while longer and then will come out but if it sees me it goes and hides. How can I help it not be so scared?

* I refer to him as "it" because he's still too little to sex

I'm sure it's terrified, I would be too. I just wanted to know if there was anything extra I could do to help it not be so terrified.

I too have a new baby and it was so scared it wet it's self when ever I picked it up. For about a week I put my hand in several times a day. then it started to poke it's head out and soon licked my hand. 2 times I have been able to scoop it up and hold it in my cupped hands and then it scampers away when I put it back.It s slow going let me know how it goes.

Taming leopard geckos.

My first leopard gecko used to be shy. Now I need to nudge him to make him go somewhere. Especially when I am rearranging his tank. For some reason he loves getting in the way of the action so I end up having to place him somewhere else.

The best thing you can do to socialize your leopard gecko is to leave him alone and let him/her get bolder. And wait undil he/she does get bolder before you try handling him/her on a regular basis.

My leo had health problems so i hand fed him mealworms a lot and now, he will come out when he hears my voice, lick my fingers and crawl in my hand... it just takes time and patience.
