A few questions about crickets

So for the roughly 7 months that I've had my Leo (he was full grown when I got him) I've been using meal worms as my staple. I threw in a half dozen crickets two or three times in that time span.

Anyway, Balboa has been rejecting meal worms almost entirely lately. Licks them, sniffs them, and moves on. Seeing as meal worms are touted as less healthy I've switched to crickets as a primary diet since that seems to be what he wants anyway. One of those everybody wins situations. Since he decided to switch I've given him two sets of 6 crickets about a week apart.

However, the first time I put them in there he seemed to be a little stressed out. At one point it was if he was trying to walk through the glass, he was really pressing against it, which I'd never seen him do before. Do you guys ever see your Leo's getting stressed out by their crickets?

I guess that was really only one question lol. Thanks for the help in advance guys. Any other thoughts and suggestions, as always, are greatly appreciated.

Hello Cobb ~

I recommend placing any lightly dusted crickets in a shallow feeding dish. Loose crickets running around the tank can nibble on your leos toes as well as stress him out.

To keep the crickets in the feeding dish, cut off the back legs at the "knees".

Try only giving him one or two at a time, waiting until he eats those to add more. As he gets used to them, you'll be able to add more at a time.
If he's having trouble catching them (unlikely since he's an adult, but possible if he's not used to them), try placing him in a small container with just a few crickets- that way, the crickets can't get away.
