question: when i get my 20 gallon long should i buy a 5lb bag of sand and use a mix between that and slate tile
1 does anyone have experience using excavator substrate to mold caves and such for leopard geckos cage?
2 would it be safe to mold caves like 2 floors so i can use wasted height?
3 should i wait until i buy the 20 gallon long in like june or july to get more slate tiles? my leopard geckos are both nearing 5 1/2 " and 6"? they're still hatching.
4 what are nice safe plants for leopard geckos?

1. Excavator clay is cool, but impossible to clean. Don't bother. You also can't use a UTH with it. Stick to slate.
2. That's not a question. It's an observation. 10gallons are tiny, it's why 20 longs are suggested.
3. Do what you want. I got my slate tile at Home Depot, they even cut it to fit my tanks for me at no extra charge.

I was at home depot the other day and picked up 3"x3" slate tiles, a box that covered 1sq ft cost $1 on clearance. The large 12"x12" slate tiles are $2.50 each. I'm not sure the dimensions of the 20 long but you can prob cover the entire bottom for around 5-7 dollars.

cool lowes? in pet store their $1 for lb
how much are 20 gallon long at expos?

We don't have Lowes in Canada, but they're usually comparable in pricing. I was in Lowes in Grand Forks, ND the other weekend and the pricing on slate tiles was about the same as Home Depot in Winnipeg.

If you're looking for another tank check Ebay Classifieds (Kijiji). You can quite often get some amazing deals. I was looking at Kijiji here in Winnipeg and someone was moving and was giving away a 10 and 20 gal tank.

No.. there are people from all over the world on here. Saskia is from Venezuela. If you look on the right side of the name bar there are little round flags denoting from where people are from.
