P.madagascariensis

This is a female that I aquired last summer from Jon Boone. I used to breed them around 16 years ago, but got away from the species. I wanted to get back into them because they have such great personalities. I posted a wanted ad a couple weeks back on GU, looking for a male P.madagascariensis and male P.v-nigra v-nigra...but almost got scammed by some guy from Cameroon, Africa. A bunch of red flags in his requests, but the fact that he used the pic of a forum member's gecko :roll: that made me call it off.
Anyway...I was wondering how many people out there are currently breeding these guys.

Very nice. I too was in correspondence with the same individual, I think. It was quite comical. The pictures I was sent were pictures I recognized as belonging to other people I knew from this forum and elsewhere. He had all the species I was looking for (cepediana, ornata, etc.) at the lowest prices globally!

Back to the subject, have you found a male? She really is striking.

No, I havent found a male yet, but his name was Crespo...He said that he was from Texas, but was going to Africa and doing research for HIV patients. He wanted me to send him the money Western Union:crackup:.

I am Breeding these guys, I have nearly saturated the local market with their offspring in the past year lol

They have just started croaking and chirping their way into another breeding season.

I've been breeding them since 1997. I love their personalities too. Last night one of the males decided to come out of his tank and get the cricket rather than waiting for me to put it in, LOL! Fortunately he's tame enough that he's easy to catch! That's a nice-looking female you've got!

I do have juvenile males available, and references! I hate it when rip-off artists get involved in this hobby!

I have a male grandis and I am looking for a female now. I know this is an international forum, but if you have any idea about how to find a female grandis in sweden, please tell me..

My male is very cute, but he's so shy! Is there anything I can do to get him more "tame", like the one you describe meloha?

Hi Annika,

I have not kept grandis but I assume they have about the same personality as mad-mads, since they are closely related. I think mine are tame because of how I raise them, each one in its own small enclosure where they are individually fed. I get to be the Food Goddess! So I would suggest hand-feeding your guy and letting him get hungry (maybe feed every other day except in warmest weather) so the food is important. You can put pureed fruit on your finger or a spoon for him to lick off, for a nice positive interaction. They do have individual personalities though. I have some raised by other people (for bloodline mix) that are very shy. But males are usually more bold that females.

I know people that have raised tokay geckos to be tame, which shows that these things can be done!
