Superworms (zero bedding method)

I'm toying with breeding superworms without any sort of bedding, thus far I'm at the stage of raising already hatched tiny supers (reared the conventional bedding way) in a tub with no bedding at all.

There are a couple of reasons I am interested in nailing down a process that will work; 1st I believe it will be more simple to maintain a clean breeding area this way, 2nd I want to be able to see at a glance about how many worms are in a given tub at any time.

Exactly how far this will go is as good a questio as any, my time has become so very limited I'm not sure myself.

So, this is what I have done, I mix 2/3c hot water with 1 tsp agar agar, stir, add 1/3c of roach/cricket food and allow this to sit long enough to soak up a good bit of fluids. Toss this mess into the microwave for 2min on high. Allow the mix to cool, remove gelled diet from container, break up into random sized chunks, toss into bin of supers. the quantity I mentioned will feed around 3000 med/large for 1 day.

My thoughts are that 20c of dry diet would be the maximum quantity of food needed to rear 1000 superworms. Way less than $20 worth in any case.
