Retaining Spectacular Phelsuma Color?

I have a question.

I've tried online researching, yet so far have come up with nothing pertaining to my subject in question. I've been told by a few sources that some species of Phelsuma (in most cases wild-caught) will lose there initial color once placed into captivity. I am assuming the loss of color must be due to poor captive conditions and/or insufficient nutrition/supplementation. I have found next to nothing so far in my research other than adequate lighting to diffuse the effect, but what exactly IS adequate lighting? Does anyone have the research behind this theory to back it up? If some pros here could shed some more *light* on the situation in general I would be very appreciative. If anyone else has noticed this undesirable effect please share as well.

Thanks in advance! Long time stalker, first time poster - Tanya
