Mixing species?

I am new to geckos but not to reptiles. I am wondering if I could keep a female tokay and a female lined gecko in the same terrarium if large enough. I have read that tokays can be kept with golden geckos and since lined geckos are closely related to those species I would imagine it being possible.

The simple answer is that mixing species is not recommended. Tokays grow much larger than lined geckos...at least the ones I've seen.

I thought that lined geckos are only a couple inches shorter at max length. If I do decide to get both species I'll be sure to keep them separate. Could I keep a male and female together?

You would most likely end up with a dead lined gecko. Tokay are very territorial. Even if it didn't kill the lined gecko, they would both be very stressed. It's simply not a good idea. You can keep two female tokays together, or a male and a female.
