Recently recieved a 2 year old male Gargoyle Gecko. Ive noticed that he spends almost all of his time Hanging out on the bedding, or on a branch about 2 inches off the bedding. Is this normal?

This is probably a little bit out of the norm but they are semi-terrestrial. They don't have as good a grip as other Rhacs do. Cresteds can climb up a vertical surface with ease where Gargs can't. They need rough branches to climb up. What does your tank look like? What are you using for climbers? Are they rough? Is he eating and pooing?

18x18x18 exoterra, plenty of cork bark, branches, and foliage to climb/hide in. yes he is eating i saw him lasy night.

Ok, Everything sounds pretty good. I would just keep a close eye on him for a little bit to make sure he's eating and pooing normally and not acting lethargic. If you see anything else out of the norm let us know.
He also could be doing this because of his move to your house. They stress easily and usually will scare you for the first few weeks after moving. But if he's eating and pooing those are both good signs that he's getting more comfortable with his new home.

Hi, we keep many gargoyle geckos and a high percentage of them will lay on the floor and hide under things on the floor. So i wouldn't worry to much about it. Do you have any plants on the substrate because i find that they will go and sleep under plants that are on the floor. I hope this helps.

yes I have a live ficus tree in a little pot. I have not seen him utilize any of the branches or cork bark I have in the tank for climbing at all yet. Just hides all night on the ground behind bark.

In my experience, gargoyles are funny little things, sometimes mine will be on the ground for a while and then hanging from the screen ceiling. Sometimes I catch them on a vertical log, sometimes they'll hide for a while in the foliage where I can't even see them. As long as it's eating and pooping, I wouldn't worry about it. The rhac books say that they are from scrub forests, and have been caught hiding under logs and such, so don't assume they should be hanging from trees all day long.
