Questions and concerns

Well its been a while since I have signed in via computer.
But here is a quick update.
My leopard gecko has grown a lot.
Eats like a champ. Seems to enjoy his cool hide since
when I come back from school he's freezing.

Now the questions and concerns

Although I am not sure why its not gaining some weight
he should be a bit more chubby since i feed every 2 days
with a mealworm buffet every 4 days. Am I doing
something wrong in that department?
Also I am worried since winters almost here that Sleet
(renamed Sleet after I realized she was a he) might not make
it through?

NOW my other problem...
I am having trouble getting my geckos humid hide to stay well humid.
It seems to dry after 1-2 days. Could this have anything to do with me
not having a screen on the top of a 20 gallon?

Humid hides tend to dry up fairly quickly because the rest of the tank is dry. Do you use paper towels or something else? I found that sphagnum moss holds water very well, but I would suggest covering it with a layer of paper towels. I had an incident where my gecko ate the sphagnum moss and threw up a big chunk of it a few days later.

Also, your feeding schedule seems alright. Some geckos will kind of plateau at a weight that is good for them. How old is he? Do you know how much he weighs? I wouldn't be too worried about it unless he looks unhealthily skinny or is having abnormal stools.

You mentioned that when you come home from school he is freezing? What are the temperatures on the cool side of the tank. I wouldn't be worried about the winter coming if the temperatures in the tank stay at 93-95 on the warm side and 75ish on the cool side. He should be fine through the winter.
