So, in the interest of passing along useful observations. Last night I sat and watched one of our crested gecko drinking from the water dish area of our planted terrarium. The crested gecko observed doing this behavior is approximately 1.5 years old. I know that many care sheets recommend having a water dish of some kind, but that crested geckos are mostly known to drink water collected on plant and terrain features from misting. Our terrarium is misted twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. I know this gecko drinks water from the plant leaves, but I wanted to pass along that some crested geckos can/do recognized standing water and will use it. It was quite interesting to watch. It drank periodically over a period of five minutes. Lapping the water with its tongue and then lifting its head upward and appearing to swallow. This process was repeated several times. Anyway, hope everyone on here is doing well.
