Hey everybody,
Well, like some people remember I am keeping a pair of C. Bibronii in a 70 x 70 x 60 vivarium with selfbuild backside and so on. The humidity is about 55% and the temp lays between 22 at night and 30 to 35 at day.
here my problem:
While cleaning the leftovers of last nights meal I noticed on my males feet some wired sheddings. The skin wrinkles and tightens on the toes. The lamina are also wrenkled. I took him out and checked and it is on 2 tests but not every toe. He is still able to run around and walk up the wall and also proudlz speaking able to do some things with the female we shouldnt talk about. :0 and I think this 2 feet seem to have darkened a littlebit too.
I provide them with a bowl of smashed sepia and a bowl with fresh water changed everz other day.
The female has No strange shedding problems or anything. She also laid her eggs o. the front glass slide and takes crickets out of the bowl while holding it in.
I am not sure if I should place him in a small bowl of warm water since he is the more agile and shy one.
I am thankfull for any advise or Tip you got.

Care sheet for Turner's thick-toed gecko

I wrote that care sheet long ago, hope that helps.

You probably have C. turneri, the importers are messing up with names and true bibroni are not really common, it is not easy to distinguish both species at first sight though, unless you know the exact origin of the animals.

It's an underrated gecko, really pleasant to keep. They will bite if handled and it's better to leave them alone without any handling. These guys are good feeders, so don't hesitate to give your gecko as many crickets (properyl gut-loaded and dusted with calcium) as he/she can take in an hour.

For the shedding issue, just use a moist hide such as an opaque box filled with wet sphagnum moss and it should be ok. Are you using vitamin supplements? Often, shedding issues happen because of a lack or an overdose of vitamins. Get some Nekton Rep vitamines and Miner-All I, use Nekton rep every 10 days or so and Miner-All I on every feeding ;)

Sorry to say this, but I got him from a breeder (friend of me) and it is deffinetly a Bibron :) Although I know it might be hard to distinguish between those 2.
I have read your caresheet a long time ago and thank you for your answer since I already gave up that somebody might answer. I am using a mix of different Mineral supplies based on what I feed them. I didnt know that an "overdose" of vitamins can cause those shedding problems, but that might be the reason considering that i dust the crickets wealworms every second feeding slightly...
my wet box is filled with those little clay balls ( sorry i dont know the english name) and it is usig quite often.
Like I said, my female isnt scared or shy, often comes out and watches the movements in our living room while the male is pansy and the fastest hider I have seen my whole life :p
Do you have an idvise on how to capture the male?
I got him to a vet 3 weeks ago and his next "appointment" is next week but I had no luck on catching him so far. I think he already figured the toilet paper roll trap :(
Thanks for your answer!!!!

Well, try to push the male to go on a flat surface with enough open space around him inside the terrarium then put your hand on its body, grasping it gently but firmly enough, these guys love to bite! ;)
