Raising lights

Using a slimlight on top of my phant cage. Tank is a bit hot for my liking at about 75-76 and want to lower it one or two degrees to try to get it as close to 72 as possible. Anyone here raise their lights like these off the tank? have used bricks in the past for other species but worried about the weight on the screen. Doesnt have to be really high off just want to get it down by like a couple degrees. Thanks.

seems like you should be able to use just about anything, maybe just a couple of small blocks of wood? Fluorescent lights don't put out too much heat in the first place, if you lift it even just an inch or so, it should make a difference.

Yeah I know they dont and figure it would lower it just to were I wanted it by lifting them up like a inch or two. I have a problem called OCD though (bleh) and it freaks me out putting anything over tanks like blocks of wood (if your talking about lumber from home depot) or anything else were something could fall into the tank. I know its kind of stup9id to think like that but I cant help it. What can I say I have more issues then a magazine subscription :p

Well, you could try buying some thick wire to wrap around the fixture and give it some legs to stand higher. Might take a bit to get enough support so it's stable. Otherwise try to fashion something along the same lines out of hardware cloth/chicken wire?

Oh didnt think about that. Wonder if I could fashion some legs out of plexi and use them. Thanks for the advice man.

To elevate my slimlight I use 2oz pastic food cups, they are super lightweight & stable.

I grabbed those little cups. Havnt tried them yet but plan on it soon. Looking at your light I believe ours are two different ones. The slim lights from ESU like the one in the pic just a different bulb is what I got.
