They had a gecko exhibit at the Museum of Science in Boston MA. So of course we had to go. This was the first time I've seen most of these in person, but I'm sure a lot of you have seen/ maybe owned all of these! The enclosures were quite nice, but I still have mad respect for these geckos for being stared/ squealed at for 2 months. That's enough stress for a lifetime I think.

These are so cool!

I thought the giant leaf-tailed geckos were absolutely amazing. man they are huge! I just love the look of them.

This was a different leaftail but in the same enclosure.

I know these aren't leopard geckos but I can't remember what they are called!

And the Tokays.... this was am enormous enclosure but I kid you not, there were more than 10 Tokays in there. how they weren't killing eachother I don't know.

and that's it, can't wait to meet more geckos at the Massachusetts Reptile Expo next weekend.

hope you liked the pictures! I wish I could have bought one of those huge enclosures and taken it home, my Tokay would live like a king.

The first one you ask the name is Frog eyed gecko and the second Gehyra marginata I think. I want a white lined gecko as well, all exhibits were awesome!!!! But I think they shouldn't house so many tokays together and I don't see any hides in the leopards' terrariums. Also these gravels are dangerous, they might cause impaction.

Awsome photos, that would have been awsome to go to!!

Some of the enclosures although beautiful don't seem suitable for the species that they're housing, for sure, but still. All of them look healthy to me so looks like they're at least doing something right!

I agree that some setups are not the best and that there, for example in the leachianus enclosure, are not enough hides or branches. Anyway, i disagree with your concerns about gravel. It does not cause any trouble as long as you have a healthy mixture of organisms in there. Again i have to stress that a sterile setup (that can't be kept sterile anyway) is a much better Substrate for dangerous bacteria than a healthy and working Natural Substrate is. What is often called impaction is some phantom that most people use as an excuse for their poor and sterile looking setups instead of nice and healthy natural enclosures that offer space and something that comes close to the Natural habitat. Just my opinion but when i see small plastic enclosures with nothing but papertowel as a Substrate and 1-2 pieces of Cork in it, i have to puke.
