Question about female phant aggression

I setup a 20 gallon tall for 0.2 phants. Plenty of hides, branches, etc. One is like 2 months older but roughly the same size. However I think the older one maybe stressing out the smaller one. They were raised apart but have the same parents. The older one has not left her alone and although I have not seen any aggression the older one stares at the other one and seems to follow her around the tank. The older one is a year and 3 months and the other one is a year. I pulled the smaller one tonight and put her back in her old enclosure which she cant stay long cause its just a large kritter keeper which was her grow up cage. I pulled her cause she was laying on the bottom of the tank and although she wasnt lethargic (she would still climb, jump, etc) I'm not willing to risk it. I know females can be little turds sometimes but I have never had issues with phant females being aggressive to one another just males. I am sure these guys are both ladies cause they have been laying slugs for a while. I would like them to stay together cause I plan(ned) on putting a male with them. However, if she is not gonna be nice I wont do it. Any thoughts? thanks.

I doubt it's the case, but make sure they are well-fed. I have noticed a lot of fixation on one another's tails when Uroplatus are housed together, with very young individuals occasionally causing autotomized tails due to mistaken predation attempts (at least that's my best guess). As cohabitating individuals get older, I've noticed fewer instances of tail loss, which leads me to believe they are recognizing one another as conspecifics and not food (i.e., learning not to attack one another)...and as long as food supply is sufficient, competitive pressure should be lower, if not eliminated.

Have you made close inspection of both of these females? If so, can you see any indication of bite marks on either individual? How old are these two?

I checked for bite marks and there is none. One is a year and 3 months and the other is a year. Although they never been together they were kept next to each other for they could see one another to prepare them. I'm pretty sure they are well fed maybe a bit to much. Each one gets 2-3 sm to medium crickets every other day. So six get tossed in total sometimes extra just in case a cricket dies.

I had the same problem Saurian. The 2 females i put together were from the same parents, 2 months apart and slightly younger, they had also been reared separately.

I put them in a newly decorated viv, but because one of the females showed signs of aggression i separated them. I tried again after 3 weeks and they seem to be fine, even sleeping together for the last few months.

You just need to keep a close eye on them, good luck!

Well I seperated them about 3 weeks ago and a week ago tried putting them back together. The bigger female still seems to be stressing out the smaller one. I seperated them again. I am either going to set her up in her own 10 gallon and just let her live alone till I find a male or either sell her to get money for a male or trade her for a male. Anyone interested in a year old female phant in the indy area :p
