Hey all, my name is Britt and I'm from Grand Forks, ND.
I have wanted some sort of reptile for years and years. I bought a small lizard when I was quite young but had to return it because it kept biting, and it would literally clamp on when you tried to feed it. Still, that didn't keep me from wanting something else.
Well, I am now the proud owner of two Leopard Geckos, however they were quite the surprise. One of my friends had them for about two weeks, when he realized he didn't have "time" for them. He was trying to sell them, but couldn't find anyone so he decided that he was just going to let them die. I know, this is incredibly horrible so when my boyfriend told me this I freaked out and said I'd take them. He ended up just giving me them, but they don't even have the bare minimum for a habitat. They are each in their own 10 gallon tank, with sand substrate which I want to change. They had no heat source, and crappy freeze dried food. I have started feeding them live food and they go crazy. They both look okay, their coloring is bright and their skin looks healthy. I see the one has a weird looking toe that looks like he just didn't shed right but it's not bad. They aren't very big at all, length wise they are about maybe about 6-7 inches, but they are thin and their tales are not very big. The male is very active at night, moves around the tank and loves watching me move around, (he turns his head at me, super funny looking). On the other hand my female is very lethargic, she sleeps all of the time and I'm hoping once I get her fed right, she will not be so sleepy.
There are so many improvements I plan on doing, bigger tank, good lighting and thermostats or something similar. The truth is I just don't have the funds to do it at once, but I just couldn't let him kill them. I hope that they will be okay, and begin to thrive.
Thanks for reading!
