Hallo everyone, im new around here, and im also new to the whole reptile world, however I did study alot of forum threats concerning problems and advices, so I dont feel completely newbie.

Questien #1
But I still have a problem, my geckos (male and female) dosent eat the prey I leave them with, they have the following incest avaliable 24/7

- black crickets
- grass hoppers
- meal worms.

I have tried to feed em with a pincet, they will bite the incest and attempt to eat it, but when it is dead they dont care. Also when I add the MSA medicine (wish is causaul to them) they dont seem to care at all...

Questien #2
one of my geckos is very shy, it has been hiding for some days now, when I collected them from the guy who had em before me, the idiot catched them with his bare hands, are they mentally hurted? only one of them will spend the day in the "sun"

Questien #3

how do I assure they are not underweigth? I had em for a week now, and im begenning to worry alittle since I havent seen em eat, only once I managed to get a black cricket in one of them.

Questien #4

I´ve brougth an refloctor lamp with an exo terra sun glow bulb for it, however the heats keeps breaking the lamps, so now I consider flurrots... is exo terra the way to go here?

sorry for multiply questiens in one thread, but im a concerned reptile owner.

first of all, can you give us more information regarding your husbandry?
what is the exact temperature gradient (day and night)?
exactly what sort of bulb are you using?

can you please post a photograph of your setup? this is very important.

I would also remove any crickets or grasshoppers that aren't eaten within an hour or so. black crickets in particular will bite geckos if they are allowed to roam the tank when the gecko is not hungry.

it is possible they are stressed out, as they have gone through many changes in the past week.

what is "MSA"?

vitamins : Necton REP.

Minerals: Necton MSA

day tempature around 25 degrees (dunno what it is in fahrenheit)
nigth tempature around 15-20 degrees

hudmity: 70-75 %

bulb: exo terra sun glow

picture as seen here:

please note that this was taken before we´ve putted in water bowl and such. But there are plenty of hiding spaces.

we do have 3 cats, but it dosent seem to affect them, only one of them hides for days, im not sure if its caused by stress...

ah, thank you for the picture. I don't personally feel that they have enough hiding places. that is a very open floor-plan.

they would probably also like to be just a little warmer during the day.

You´re welcome, and thanks for your help and effort. Yeah it is a little "open" however they have some good hiding spaces in the far back corner, in spring I will buy some climbing plants for it, but atm its impossible to get from Germany.

concerning the heat, do you have any good ideas on how I could improve it? a basking spot or something?

absolutely, a basking spot.

if you don't see them both eating well soon, I would also add more plants, even if they are fake. if they don't feel safe to come out and eat, they will not.

Excellent news!

25celcius is only 77F, which is far too cold for grandis. they need a basking spot of 90F/32C and the ambient temperature needs to be around 25-27C.

I prefere bamboo :)

I have a rather dumb questien, but I cant look it up at any danish care guides, are the geckos hunger effected by bad tempatures? I think one of my geckos looks skinny, but my wife says it looked that way even when we got it.

they are still scared of me, so its hard to feed them with MSA, but I do succed.

they have flies avaliable all the time as a snack, im going to order them some wax worms. Any other good tips?

Being cold blooded they will be less active and thus hunt less when too cold. Give them some more heat and their activity should increase.

sorry I forgot to get back to this thread.

I´ve added some more bamboo, and brougth a basking spot. Activity has got up alot!

the ambinet temp im still figthing with, so im going to order a heat wave lamp to increase the temp on friday.

but its amazing how they eat now, especially flies is a huge succes :- )
