Geckos & Roaches

I am planning on getting my very first gecko in the summer time and I am wanting to know if they will eat Turk roaches (think they're known as Red Runners too), I have a growing colony of these as that's what I feed my tarantulas and if my gecko will eat these then brilliant, I will also be feeding mealies as well. If not then buying locust/crickets isn't a problem (though I don't much like touching crickets but am fine with locust)

If people could share what their geckos will eat that would be great.

Thanks for that, Turks aren't big anyway and the colony I have goes from tiny babies to adults.

At the moment I have tarantulas which feed on roaches, they too will ignore any that are too small & my smaller spiders run away if they're too big.

I haven't got my gecko yet, am still researching and reading up on them.

Yeah, lateralis high activity level stimulates the prey drive in a lot of gecko species and is great for getting geckos that won't feed on slower prey to eat. THey're a fine choice of roach species for most geckos.

Some leos are more fussy than others. Best to feed variety:

"crickets, roaches, grasshoppers, hornworms, Phoenix worms, silkworms, butterworms, mealworm pupas, very infrequent young mealworms for variety only and NOT as a staple, and locusts (smallest locusts possible)"

Being in the UK the live food available is a bit different, crickets, locust, mealies, big super mario worm things but the others I'm not sure if I can get those from the local place I use & as said I have a growing colony of Turk roaches.
